The Department of Forest and Environmental Resources at NC State University is seeking applicants for a full-time, 12-month, tenure-track position focused on forest health with a 50% commitment to extension, to include discipline-guided inquiry, 35% Research, 5% commitment to teaching and mentoring, and a 10% commitment to service.
The ideal candidate will have a combination of knowledge, skills, and experience that will allow them to work in areas of forest health to address issues in emerging pests and pathogens, integrated pest management, and global change. The successful candidate will be expected to teach or co-teach, two 3-credit hour course equivalents per year. The exact details (content, frequency, etc.) for each course will be negotiated with the Head of Forestry and Environmental Resources, and abide by the college workload policy. You will not be expected to teach in your first semester.
The successful applicant will be a part of the department’s 9-person Extension Forestry team of 4 faculty and 5 staff. Responsibilities include developing an innovative, state-wide extension program, to include evaluation and accountability. The person is expected to perform discipline-guided inquiry that is in line with their Extension program. The successful applicant will work with other faculty to develop funding for extension-relevant projects that support graduate students and expand the impact of their extension program. The individual will work in support of Cooperative Extension Service Extension field faculty in North Carolina’s 100 counties and the Cherokee Indian Reservation. The applicant will also teach two classes per year in support of the Department’s curricula and reflecting the applicant’s area of expertise. The applicant will also be expected to advise undergraduate students and participate in service to the University and profession.
