The School of Forestry at Northern Arizona University invites applications for the position of a one year only Instructor of Forestry. We have two positions that are 9-month, non-tenure-track, non-renewable teaching appointments. We seek applicants with expertise in forestry and natural resource management whose interests will complement the School of Forestry’s and NAU’s programs in related areas. The successful applicants will be expected to teach a variety of classes in support of our undergraduate program. Potential courses range from: Introduction to Forestry, Writing in Forestry, Professional Development, Environmental Conservation, Forest Management and Planning, Forest and Rangeland Plants, Landscape and Rangeland Ecology. Specific teaching assignments will be determined based on the successful candidates’ background and interests.
Minimum Qualifications
• Master's degree in forestry or closely related field conferred by the start date.
Preferred Qualifications
• Demonstrated teaching experience in subjects related to forestry, fire, and natural resource management.
• Professional experience working in fields closely related to forestry
• Demonstrated experience with or commitment to working with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds.
General Information: The School of Forestry offers B.S., M.F., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees. Our well-equipped facility jointly houses the School of Forestry, the Ecological Restoration Institute, Centennial Forest (education and research forest), and a unit of the USDA Forest Service Rocky Mountain Research Station.
