The Division of Forestry and Natural Resources within the Davis College of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Design at West Virginia University (http://davis.wvu.edu), Morgantown, WV is pleased to invite applications for a nine-month tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Wildlife and Fisheries Resources (WFR) program. The position will focus on fisheries ecology with expertise in inland fisheries management and aquatic sciences. The position has a projected starting date of August 14, 2020.
Responsibilities: The successful candidate will teach the equivalent of approximately three courses per year. This will be fulfilled by team-teaching (50% each) the undergraduate Wildlife & Fisheries Techniques class and the undergraduate Advanced Wildlife and Fisheries Management (capstone) class annually. An undergraduate Fish Management course will be taught annually. Examples of other possible upper-level courses include Aquaculture, Ichthyology, Wildlife and Fisheries Population Ecology, and Aquatic Invertebrate Ecology, according to the candidate's expertise and needs of the program. The candidate will be expected to develop a vibrant externally funded, nationally and internationally recognized research program that complements existing program strengths in wildlife and fisheries ecology. The incumbent will advise undergraduate students, mentor graduate students, and publish research results in refereed journals. The candidate will be expected to collaborate with federal and state resource agencies to promote long-term partnerships focused on fish conservation and water resources.
Program: The Wildlife and Fisheries Resources program at West Virginia University is one of five program areas in the Division of Forestry and Natural Resources (https://forestry.wvu.edu/). The program offers degrees at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels. The program is housed within the Davis College of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Design.
