College of the Redwoods is currently recruiting for the following faculty position:
· Assistant Professor, Forestry & Natural Resources/Geomatics – Eureka
Summary
This position is for a full-time, grant-funded, non-tenure track Assistant Professor in Forestry and Natural Resources based at the Eureka campus. The Forestry and Natural Resources / Geomatics Assistant Professor will develop and implement a Geomatics Certificate and teach a and wide variety of Forestry and Natural Resource courses that may include, but are not limited to: Introduction to Surveying, Introduction to Geospatial Concepts, Introduction to Remote Sensing, Introduction to GIS, Introduction to Surveying, Introduction to Natural Resources Inventory Techniques, Introduction to Wildland Fire, and Watershed.
Additional responsibilities will include aiding in all necessary steps to gain Society of American Foresters (SAF) accreditation, curriculum development, assessment, establishing relationships with industry partners, and hosting community advisory meetings. Teaching assignment may include night and weekend work, teaching via on-campus, online, and hybrid, and in synchronous and asynchronous course-delivery modalities. Anticipated start date for this position is Fall 2022.
Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s degree in Forestry or Natural Resources with at least one degree from an SAF-accredited institution.
• Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Geomatics, or related disciplines.
• Experience working in a hand-on, collaborative education environment.
• Knowledge of GIS and Spatial Analysis software as well as other discipline specific technology.
• Interest and expertise in applying remote sensing, geographic information systems, data collection, analysis and modeling to natural resources management questions.
• Interest and ability in obtaining the Registered Professional Forester license in California.
Education and Experience
Minimum Requirement: Any bachelor’s degree and two years of professional experience, or any associate’s degree and six years of professional experience.
