Assistant Professor, Forest and Rangeland Biometry and Measurement - Colorado State University

The Department of Forest and Rangeland Stewardship at Colorado State University is seeking applications for a nine-month, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor specializing in Forest and Rangeland Biometry and Measurement. Applications from those interested in the development, teaching, and use of innovative sampling and statistical methods to inform natural resource inventory, monitoring, planning, and management are especially encouraged to apply. We seek scholars who will develop an internationally recognized, innovative, independent, and extramurally funded research program involving graduate and undergraduate students. Individuals with interest and expertise in one or more of the following:

1. The application of statistical methods such as Spatial, Bayesian, Imputation, and/or Computation Statistics to support vegetation management including silvicultural practices, climate adaptation, and/or fire mitigation, control, and restoration.

2. Innovative measurement platforms including satellite, manned and unmanned aerial and terrestrial systems to quantify and monitor trends in selected characteristics of forests and/or rangelands, including vegetative structure and biodiversity, biomass accumulation, and carbon.

3. Modeling and estimation, including error/uncertainty, of important biophysical and social attributes associated with ecosystem goods and services, resilient social-ecological systems, and sustainability.

In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to exhibit leadership in, and passion for, teaching and contributing to undergraduate and graduate programs in the Forest and Rangeland Stewardship Department. Applicants should clearly demonstrate a commitment to diversity and inclusion in the department, college, and the university.
