Job Description Summary
The School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences (SFWS) at Auburn University invites applications for Professor of Practice – Online Graduate Programs. This position will serve as an Instructor and Coordinator for Online Graduate Programs for the School’s ongoing online Master of Natural Resources and three interdisciplinary online graduate certificates in Restoration Ecology, Forest Finance and Investment, and One Health. Through collaborations with faculty from other colleges at Auburn University and beyond, the School has opportunities in developing new online programs relating to forests, wildlife, natural resources, and environment areas. This will be a 12-month permanent position (non-tenure track faculty level) with 50 % of the duties associated with teaching on-line graduate courses and 50% associated with on-line graduate coordination. The successful applicant will serve as an Instructor and Coordinator for online graduate programs. In this capacity, the selected applicant will work directly with SFWS faculty, staff, and administrators, and other academic units on campus, to further develop, promote, and grow the School’s online graduate programs. In addition to serving as the primary point-of-contact for online graduate programs, the selected applicant will teach 2-3 graduate level courses relating to school’s online graduate courses and support the advising, recruiting, and marketing needs of the program.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants should possess a Master’s degree (at a minimum) at the time employment begins. At least one degree in forestry, wildlife, natural resources (or related fields) is desired. Expertise/experience relating to online education programs is also desired. In addition to possessing strong written and interpersonal communication skills, applicants who can demonstrate an ability to coordinate and collaborate with a diverse array of partners are desired. Any experience in forestry, wildlife, natural resources, or environment related areas would also be desirable. Candidates should be self-motivated, able to work independently, and possess an ability to teach and advise/mentor students in an academic environment.
