Position: The Department of Forest and Rangeland Stewardship (FRS) in the Warner College of Natural Resources at Colorado State University seeks applicants for a 9-month, full-time non-tenure track Assistant Professor to contribute to teaching in our accredited Forestry and Rangeland Ecology programs, and to our graduate degree programs. We seek a dynamic and innovative educator with expertise in natural resource law and policy who is committed to delivering quality education to undergraduate and graduate students in the natural resources.
Major Duties and Responsibilities: The successful candidate will teach a variety of classes on public lands and natural resource law and policy, history, planning, and environmental impact assessment, at the undergraduate and graduate levels, including courses that are part of our on-campus and online Masters of Natural Resources Stewardship graduate program. Preferred candidates will have evidence of outstanding teaching skills in diverse formats, including online instruction. The incumbent will teach 2-3 courses per semester with additional opportunities for scholarship, outreach to stakeholders, and participation in other departmental activities such as advising student clubs. There will also be opportunities in summer to teach with additional compensation or to pursue research funding.
Required Qualifications: Completed PhD in forestry or related natural resource field, with expertise in natural resource policy, environmental policy, or environmental planning, or a related field of social science at the start date of the position.
Highly Desirable Criteria: Demonstrated excellence in teaching natural resource policy at the college level; evidence of producing effective and innovative educational materials; evidence of research on natural resource policy topics; excellent communication skills; experience mentoring undergraduate or graduate students; and a demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion in academic and natural resource professional settings.
